Polyimide tape
Polyimide tape, or Kapton tape, is made from polyimide film with a high-performance organic silicon adhesive. It offers superior temperature, acid, alkaline, and solvent resistance, and is ideal for electronics, insulation, and battery applications.
1. Product Introduction of Polyimide Tape
Polyimide tape, also known as Kapton tape or commonly referred to as "gold finger tape," is made from polyimide film and coated with high-performance organic silicon pressure-sensitive adhesive. It offers excellent properties such as high and low-temperature resistance, acid and alkaline resistance, solvent resistance, electrical insulation (H-class), and radiation protection. It is suitable for applications such as shielding during wave soldering of electronic circuit boards, protecting gold fingers, high-end electrical insulation, motor insulation, and fixing the positive and negative terminals of lithium batteries.
The tape features a polyimide film base with a single-side coating of high-performance organic silicon pressure-sensitive adhesive. It can be supplied with or without fluoroplastic release material. The coating precision achieves ±2.5 µm, with no scratches or streaks, excellent shear properties, and easy die-cutting. It has outstanding high-temperature resistance and solvent resistance.
2. Features and Applications of Polyimide Tape
-
In the Electronics and Electrical Industry: It is used for high-demand H-class motor and transformer coil insulation, high-temperature coil end insulation and fixation, temperature sensor protection, capacitor and wire bundling, and other high-temperature bonding insulation applications.
-
In PCB Manufacturing: The tape is used for electronic protection and is particularly suitable for SMT temperature protection, electronic switches, PCB gold finger protection, electronic transformers, relays, and other electronic components requiring high-temperature and moisture protection. Special formulations include low-static and flame-retardant versions.
-
High-Temperature Surface Protection: It is used for masking metal materials during high-temperature spray painting and sandblasting. After high-temperature spray baking, it can be easily removed without leaving residue.
Polyimide tape features high-temperature resistance, high tensile strength, excellent chemical resistance, no adhesive residue, and compliance with ROHS environmental standards for halogen-free materials. It is ideal for protecting gold fingers during reflow soldering, shielding during wave soldering, and providing high-temperature insulation for various electrical and electronic applications.
