Unveiling the Distinctions Between Double-Walled and Adhesive-Containing Heat Shrinkable Tubing

Is double-walled heat shrinkable tubing the same thing as adhesive-containing heat shrinkable tubing? Let us first briefly introduce double-wall heat shrink tubing and adhesive heat shrink tubing, so that we can answer this question very well.

Double wall heat shrink tubing

Double-walled heat shrinkable tubes are heat shrinkable tubes with a double-layer structure. It is easy to understand literally. It can also be understood as an ordinary heat shrinkable tube with a layer of hot melt adhesive on the inner layer. The two are made through a co-extrusion production process. Together, it becomes a double-walled heat shrinkable tube. You can clearly see the double-layer structure. The glue coating on the inner wall is very even and smooth. Before shrinking, the wall thickness of double-walled heat shrinkable tubes is generally about 0.5mm, and the inner diameter ranges from φ1. 6-50mm, relatively soft.

Glue-containing heat shrink tubing

Glue-containing heat shrinkable tubing has an inner wall coated with a layer of hot melt glue, so it is called glue-containing heat shrinkable tubing (also called glued heat-shrinkable tubing). There are two production processes for glue-containing heat shrink tubing, direct coating and co-extrusion. Glue-containing heat shrink tubing with small diameter and thin wall thickness adopts the co-extrusion process. Those with thicker walls and larger diameters generally use the direct-coating production process. The direct-coated inner wall has only one layer of evenly distributed adhesive strips, so as long as the inner wall has adhesive, it is called an adhesive-containing heat shrinkable tube.

Through a brief introduction to double-wall heat shrink tubing and adhesive-containing heat shrink tubing, the two have one thing in common, that is, the inner wall has a layer of hot melt adhesive, while double-wall heat shrink tubing has a thinner and softer wall, and is produced by co-extrusion. Technology, so double-wall heat shrinkable tubes are glue-containing heat shrinkable tubes.

But conversely, the glue-containing heat shrinkable tube is not necessarily a double-wall heat shrinkable tube. It may also be a glue-coated medium-wall heat-shrinkable tube or a glue-coated thick-wall heat-shrinkable tube. Double-walled heat shrinkable tube is one type of adhesive-containing heat-shrinkable tube, but adhesive-containing heat-shrinkable tube is not necessarily double-walled heat-shrinkable tube. Glue-containing heat shrink tubing includes glued medium-thick wall heat shrink tubing and double-wall heat shrink tubing. Therefore, you must clearly distinguish between double-wall heat shrinkable tubes and adhesive heat shrinkable tubes when purchasing later.
